What should I know before booking?
On the first day, your driver will meet you at your hotel or riad in Marrakech at 8:00 AM. You will start your journey heading south, crossing the High Atlas Mountains through the Tizi-n-Tichka pass. This is the highest road pass in Morocco at 2,260 meters and offers amazing views of valleys, mountains, and traditional Berber villages along the way.
On the road to Ouarzazate, you will stop to visit Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This ancient kasbah is one of the most beautiful and best-preserved fortresses in Morocco. It has appeared in many famous movies and shows, such as Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven, and Game of Thrones.
After the visit, you will continue the drive through the Berber towns of Skoura and Mgouna in the Valley of Roses. Your day will end in the Dades Valley, where you will spend the night.
On the second day of the tour, we will leave Dades in the morning after you have breakfast and take a shower. Our journey will take us to the Todra Gorges—one of the most beautiful and narrow canyons in Morocco. It’s so tight in some places that it’s often compared to a human throat.
You’ll have time to walk through the gorge, enjoy the fresh air, and listen to the sound of the river flowing through the canyon. After the walk, we’ll continue our drive to Merzouga. Along the way, we’ll pass through stunning landscapes, palm-filled oases, and traditional Berber villages.
We will also drive through Erfoud, a small town known as the gateway to the Sahara and the Tafilalet oasis. Then we’ll continue to Merzouga. Depending on what time we arrive, you may have a chance to rest before starting your camel trek—or go directly on the trek.
The camel ride usually starts around 5:00–6:00 PM in summer and 3:00–4:00 PM in winter. It lasts about one hour. When you arrive at the desert camp, you’ll see the beautiful sand dunes and watch the sunset.
You will be welcomed with a glass of traditional Moroccan tea. Dinner will be served in the main tent (the restaurant). After dinner, the local guides will play Berber music around a campfire. Don’t forget to look up—on clear nights, the sky is full of stars.
On the third day, we’ll wake you up early to watch a beautiful sunrise in the desert — if you wish. After enjoying breakfast and a shower, we’ll begin the day. You can choose to ride camels back to Merzouga or be picked up directly from the camp by car.
Once you meet your driver, we’ll start the journey back to Marrakech. Along the way, we’ll pass through several Berber villages, including Alnif, Tazarine, and N’Kob, before reaching Ouarzazate. From there, we’ll follow the same road back to Marrakech.
We expect to arrive in Marrakech in the evening, between 18:00 and 19:00, depending on what time we leave in the morning and how many stops we make during the drive.
The tour comes with two options, the standard and the superior accommodations. The standard option includes a standard hotel and standard desert camp, and the superior option includes a luxury hotel and a luxury Sahara desert camp.
