Are you dreaming of spending a mysterious and adventurous 10-days in Morocco? If so, the 10-day tour from Marrakech might be just what you are seeking.

The first two days of the tour will be visiting Marrakech, known as the red city. An imperial city and home to old mosques, palaces, and beautiful gardens. The third and the fourth day will be crossing the high atlas mountains towards the south, where you’ll be exploring the Berber villages, oases, valleys, and old kasbahs such as Ait Ben Haddou. Also, you will have the chance to walk through one of the highest canyons in Morocco, known as the Todra gorges.

One of the tour highlights is riding a camel deep into the Erg Chebbi golden dunes (Known as Merzouga desert), visiting and having tea with a nomad family in the desert, enjoying the sunset, sunrise, and the night in the desert. On the sixth and the seventh day, we will be heading back to Marrakech via the southern road and through a vast rocky desert, where you’ll be able to visit small Berber villages, local markets, and passing by large lush valleys full of palm trees.

The last three days in Marrakech will be a day trip to Ouzoud waterfalls, considered as Africa’s second-highest waterfall. A day trip to Essaouira, known for its quite old medina and as the windy city. On the last day, you’ll have free time in Marrakech before the Airport’s transfer.

Good to know

  3. The tour doesn’t include lunches and drinks, and we usually stop at small and local restaurants that serve fresh food, but they can be very touristy during the peak season. However, you can reserve a restaurant on your own and have your driver transport you there whenever you like.
  4. Riding camels is not for adults over 70, people with back, leg, difficulties, or pregnant women.
  5. If there is a sand storm, it is possible to miss the sunset, sunrise, or part of the camel ride in the dunes.
  6. People with leg or back problems should avoid walking down to the Ouzoud waterfalls.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival to Marrakech

Our driver will pick you up from the airport and drop you off at the hotel. You might have a short visit depending on your arrival time.

Day 2: A full day to discover Marrakech

Today, you will be discovering Marrakech with a local guide. You'll visit the famous Medina and its souks, the Koutoubia Mosque, and explore some of Marrakech's hidden gems, including the Ali Ben Youssef Koranic School, the Saadian, the Bahia Palace, Menara Garden, Majorelle Gardens, and Mellah. Later, you'll have free time to explore the Jamaa el Fna square at night or enjoy a mint tea on a local restaurant's terrace with a view of the square and sunset.

Day 3: Marrakech - Atlas - Ait Ben Haddou - Roses Valley - Dades

We will leave Marrakech around 08:00, and we will be heading south towards the Southern part of Morocco. We will be crossing the high Atlas Mountains via Tizi-n-Tichka pass, with far-reaching views across the mountains and traditional High Atlas Berber villages. After crossing the mountains of the Atlas, we'll travel to Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where you'll have the opportunity to tour the kasbah, walk through its narrow streets, and possibly have lunch nearby. Our journey to Dades valley continues via Skoura, where we can visit its Kasbahs, and then to Mgouna, Roses valley, several Berber villages, and expecting to be in Dades by the end of the day.

Day 4: Dades Valley - Todra Gorges - Jorf - Erfoud - Merzouga

After breakfast, we will be driving through the valley to the rock structure known as "the monkey toes" and the still-standing 19th century Kasbah at Ait Yul. As you leave the Dades valley and head towards Tinrghir and the Todra valley, we'll be passing by panoramic views of the historic mud Berber and Jewish villages. We will continue driving towards Todra gorges, where you'll have time to walk through a 300-meter-high red cliff, a home of many rock-climbers who come to practice their favorite sport. Our adventure continues towards Erfoud and Rissani, know as one of the Sahara's largest Oasis, and then to Merzouga desert, where we will spend the night in a hotel.

Day 5: Merzouga - Rocky Desert - Nomad Families - Erg Chebbi dunes

After breakfast, we'll start the exploration day of the desert with a 4x4. We will be stopping by the lake of Merzouga (If there is water), home to many birds such as the pink flamingos. Our next stop will be in Khamlia, where we will explore this little village and listen to live traditional music (Gnaoua) performed by the locals.
Our desert adventure continues driving on a rocky desert towards the nomad families, where you will have the opportunity to discover their daily routine and enjoy a mint tea under their traditional tent, with the view of the highest dunes. We will have lunch somewhere in the desert before returning to Merzouga in the afternoon for the camel ride into the Erg-mystical Chebbi's sand-sea. You'll enjoy the sunset over the dunes and spend the night in a desert camp under the stars.

Day 6: Merzouga Desert - Rissani - Alnif - Agdz - Draa Valley - Ouarzazate

After an early wake up to watch the sunrise, have breakfast, take a shower. We will begin our journey towards Ouarzazate by passing through Rissani, the largest and the nearest local market to the desert, several small cities, and Berber villages such as Alnif, Tazarine, Agdz. We will also stop in Draa Valley, considered the largest valley in the South. We will reach Ouarzazate by the end of the day.

Day 7: Ouarzazate - The High Atlas Mountains - Marrakech

After exploring Ouarzazate city, we will cross the Atlas Mountains back to Marrakech through Tizi-n-Tichka, Morocco's highest road pass at 2260 meters, which offers spectacular views of valleys. Depending on your stops, we will be back in Marrakech around the afternoon/evening.

Day 8: Marrakech - Ouzoud Waterfalls - Marrakech

We will leave Marrakech early in the morning towards Ouzoud Waterfalls, about 170 kilometers northeast of the city. You will see spectacular 110-meter-high waterfalls and a gorgeous landscape full of birds and animals. After arriving at Ouzoud, you'll have roughly 4 hours at the cascades to take in the scenery. Take a walk down to the lakes, take a swim in the crystal clear waters and keep an eye out for the indigenous monkeys, have lunch at a local restaurant with the view of the waterfall and its permanent rainbows. The return journey to Marrakech after a peaceful day, with an approximate arrival time of 18:00.

Day 9: Marrakech - Essaouira - Marrakech

After breakfast, we depart towards Essaouira, passing through Chechaoua and Sidi Mokhtar on our way east. We'll pass through an Argan tree forest along the route, where we might see some goats climbing the trees, and we'll stop at a local ladies' cooperative to discover how some beautiful cosmetic products are manufactured locally using the rich Argan oil. Upon arrival, you are free to explore this relaxed and welcoming small town at your leisure, including the ramparts, craft stores in the medina, art galleries, and fishing harbor. For lunch, there are several small local restaurants serving fresh fish. We will be driving back to Marrakech around 16:00.
